Cincinnati State Middletown offers mix of in-person, online classes for Fall
In-person student services available on limited basis beginning July 20
After careful planning to ensure adherence to CDC, state and local safety guidelines related to COVID-19, Cincinnati State Middletown has developed a plan for the Fall 2020 Semester.
While students will have extensive online course options for Fall 2020, Cincinnati State Middletown is also offering a number of in-person course offerings to help students who prefer in-person education get a solid foundation at the college level.

"We have two priorities—safety, and serving the students of Middletown and Butler County," said Tom Hale, acting director of Cincinnati State Middletown. "Some students find online learning challenging and we want to provide them with in-person learning options that will help them get a strong start toward success in college."
All in-person classes at Cincinnati State Middletown will have limited enrollment to ensure appropriate social distancing. Students, instructors and staff will be required to wear face coverings. In addition, Cincinnati State Middletown will frequently clean and disinfect work and common areas according to CDC guidelines, and encourage students and staff to follow CDC-recommended personal hygiene protocols.
Beginning July 20, prospective and current students seeking assistance with admissions, advising, and financial aid will have the option of receiving those services in-person at Cincinnati State Middletown, located at 1 North Main Street in downtown Middletown. Free parking is available.
Students also have the option of receiving those services online at cincinnatistate.edu.
On Cincinnati State's website (www.cicinnatistate.edu), course listings for Fall include information about whether classes will be delivered online, in-person, or a mix of the two.
The credits students earn from general education courses at Cincinnati State are transferable to 4-year universities throughout the state and beyond, with guaranteed transferability to Ohio public colleges and Northern Kentucky University. "Bachelor-bound" students can complete up to their first two years of college at Cincinnati State.
That transferability, plus Cincinnati State's affordable tuition (less than half of most 4-year universities) makes the college an attractive option for many current 4-year university students or students graduating from high school who are considering a "gap" year before attending university.
To assist students impacted financially by the COVID-19 pandemic, Cincinnati State has been distributing grants to Spring and Summer students from its share of federal CARES Act funding. The college intends to extend a version of those grants to Fall students who are taking at least six credit hours.
The Cincinnati State Foundation has also received a number of private grants and donations for its Student Relief Funds to help students with emergency situations or with technology needs so they can complete remote courses.
Additionally, starting this Fall, Cincinnati State students will be able to use part of their federal financial aid to purchase laptop computers.
