  • Butler/Warren County and The American Heart Association Lace Up to Fund Research, Change Lives and Fight Heart Disease and Stroke

    September 18, 2019
Following a record-setting year for fundraising, the Butler/Warren County Heart Walk returns to Middletown at 10 a.m. on Saturday, September 28, 2019.
The 2019 Butler/Warren County Heart Walk is presented by Atrium Medical Center and Premier Health and benefits the Greater Cincinnati American Heart Association, which coordinates efforts in the region to reduce death and disability from heart disease and stroke. Additional sponsors include Akers Packaging, Huhtamaki, Cohen Recycling, INX International, Otterbein Senior Living, Barrett Paving, McGraw Kokosing and Bright Health.
Teams are still forming for the Butler/Warren County Heart Walk, a non-competitive, two-mile walk that starts at Atrium Family YMCA, 5750 Innovation Drive in Middletown, and travels through the gardens surrounding Atrium Medical Center. Registration is free, but walkers are encouraged to form a team and fundraise to support the American Heart Association’s efforts to reduce death and disability from heart disease and stroke. Last year, the Butler/Warren County Heart Walk raised more than $80,000 and has a goal to raise $90,000 this year.
“Atrium Medical Center is excited to again host the Butler/Warren County Heart Walk and unite community members in taking steps for better heart health,” said Marquita Turner, COO and CNO of Atrium Medical Center and chair of the 2019 Butler/Warren County Heart Walk. “Heart disease impacts our communities, our friends, our families, our neighbors. The Butler/Warren County Heart Walk supports Atrium’s and Premier Health’s mission to improve the health of the communities we serve. It is our hope to bring awareness to the need for healthier lifestyles, free of cardiovascular disease and stroke.”
Prior to the walk, participants can take part in a health expo offered by Premier Health and Atrium Medical Center and a variety of vendors.
The Butler/Warren County Heart Walk is among 300 Heart Walks held in communities across the nation. Nearly 1 million people walk each year walk for a singular mission, to cure heart disease and stroke.
“Over half of our region’s adults have high blood pressure and physical activity, such as walking, is one of the easiest ways to reduce this statistic,” said Alex Carson of the American Heart Association. “We encourage everyone to get family, friends and co-workers together and join us on September 28.”
Same-day registration and the health expo will begin at 9 a.m. at Atrium Family YMCA, located at 5750 Innovation Drive, Middletown, OH, 45005. The two-mile walk begins at 10 a.m.
