      AK Steel is a world leader in the production of flat-rolled carbon, stainless and electrical steel products, primarily for automotive, infrastructure and manufacturing, construction and electrical power generation and distribution markets. The company operates seven steel plants and two tube manufacturing plants across five states: Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio and Pennsylvania.
      AK Steel employs about 7,900 men and women in Middletown, Mansfield, Coshocton and Zanesville, Ohio; Butler, Pennsylvania; Ashland, Kentucky; Rockport, Indiana; Dearborn, Michigan and its corporate headquarters. AK Tube LLC, a wholly-owned subsidiary of AK Steel, employs about 300 men and women at plants in Walbridge, Ohio and Columbus, Indiana. AK Tube produces carbon and stainless electric resistance welded (ERW) tubularsteel products for truck, automotive and other markets. AK Coal Resources, Inc., another wholly-owned subsidiary of AK Steel, controls and is developing metallurgical coal reserves in Somerset County, Pennsylvania. AK Steel also owns 49.9% of Magnetation LLC, a joint venture headquartered in Grand Rapids, Minnesota, which produces iron ore concentrate from previously mined ore reserves.
      AK Steel?s heritage spans more than 100 years, beginning in 1899 when the company?s predecessor, Armco, was incorporated in Middletown, Ohio. Over the past century, the company has provided jobs to hundreds of thousands of people, given back to its communities and provided pensions and benefits to generations of retirees.
